Punky Scraps

There is nothing like a get picky challenge! I have cut out 3 circles in the back paper and then added an old Hambley overlay behind. The grid is hand drawn.

I love "get picky" ,but sometimes I think it's hard...did my best to make something of it...:)
The circles I have stamped with white paint,the woodgrain is transparency....well I think the rest you can see for yourself.

Kat:I had a lot of fun with this month's "Get Picky" challenge. I have always loved "grid layouts," so I jumped right on board with that idea when given the opportunity. :o)

Get Picky challenges are really difficult! What's hardest is melding all those ingredients together to make a coherent page. My challenge here was compounded by trying to work around the design on the background paper. My favourite part? The hexagon raindrops!

This one was a challenge for me because of all of the shapes...but I managed to get them all on here (the grid is questionable though). I've used lots of mists, gesso and modeling paste. The flourish, title letters and wings are all Scrapfx goodies! The pearls on the flourish chippie is viva decor's Paper-pen (opal). This thing is seriously amazing and makes perfected pearls...totally fool proof!

Ashley:

The hardest part of this challenge for me was the hexagon shape. I didn't have it at all in my stash and I didn't have the shape in my cricut library so I cut it by hand. It turned out not great so to hide that I jumbled the grid together. I popped up the pictures to add dimension. The easiest part of this challenge was the no pink clause. I even forgot it until after I completed the page!

We have some punky rebels retiring from the team :( We say a sad goodbye to Mandy, Kim and Camilla - we will miss you gals and hope to see you around.

I wanted to share this Layout by Helene as my fave for January! She really took the vintage Coca Cola ad and made it simply beautiful! This is stunning use of the Crate paper ( i am a secret addict), the paint splatters, the birds, and of course the Hambly washi tape caught my eye!

Challenge 41 - Sketchy Sketch!!

We have said goodbye to Camilla from sketch designing as she has now gone back to work!! Booo, but we will miss you :)

So, this months sketch comes from me and here it is:

I totally fell in love with Natalie's sketch, and tried to keep my layout pretty close to the original. The sketch screamed for misting and since I am totally in love with my white & silver mists at the moment, those had to make an appearance on my layout!

I love the simplicity and funkyness in Natalies sketch. I´m fond of sketches that leave a lot of undecorated space. Background paper made with gesso, mist, and yellow acrylic paint.

I love this sketch,I'm not so much of a sketchy person (most of the I do what comes in mind) ...so a real challenge it was :)I have mist the background and placed the pic on white canvas and shimmer cardstock.The clouds are rub-ons.In fact i didn't do anything special,but I love the simple result!

As you can tell, I just decided to be really goofy with this sketch. This is my husband playing around with a fake mustache....I edited the photo...badly to make it look more like a mug shot (didn't need that much help really). I love the way the copper punchinella from Gauche Alchemy looks...It really pops off the page!

I went for the more spooky aspect of the sketch. I used fall colors (which is one of my favorite color schemes) and TONS of paint. Basically I started out with a nice pp background paper ruined it when I decided it needed some black paint and then went to town misting and painting it until I liked the look. I was worried there for a second.

This sketch was really hard to work with for me, although I really liked it. I tried to keep things small and centred but the page just evolved outwards. Anyway, Nat's skull led me to choose the skull badge featured at bottom left, and that badge showed me the way to the colours. It's a bit too tidy for my liking but I was trying so hard to keep small like the sketch that I thought if I did any thing else to it I'd ruin it!

Celina:

I loved this sketch! It was so much fun to work with. The mustache on the sketch made me want to use some papers from my stash that had mustaches on them and a photo of my BFF's husband when he tried to grow a mustache while in Iraq. My BFF and I thought it was funny and I decided to commemorate it in a scrap page. I used mists in red and blue and made rosettes for the corners, then I added buttons.

I loved this weeks challenge!! I really love sketches that have a lot of white space as well :) I knew as soon as I saw Nat's sketch that I had the perfect photos to suit!! Hehehe these were taken on a camping trip where it was pouring with rain, so what else is there to do but rock the 'stauche and drink tequila! LOL

There was only one set of pictures I could use on this layout after seeing Nat's fab sketch. My husband grew a moustache last November for the Movember mens charity.

Challenge 40 - tra la la & rainbows!!

Welcome to February.......The month of love....PAH!! Bwahahaha, i'm such a misery....doesn't mean i'm not in love or anything....i just don't see all the money and hype behind St. Valentine's day!!

So it's doodles and rainbows for you this month and here is a picture to inspire you!!

Tam:

I loved this challenge! The image was such good inspiration, I'm not normally one to doodle and I rarely create a layout without any patterned paper, so this really was a challenge! I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

Kat:

I loved the patchwork aspect of the inspiration piece, so that inspired my patchwork heart and sorta messy chevron pattern. I also loved the pops of rainbow, so I was happy to work in a bit of color to my layout :o)

I love the colors in the rainbow picture as well as the patchwork pattern and the cluster. I have tried to make a similar approach using gesso, masks and different mist on my background.

Jolanda:

I love rainbows...on this pic you can see (if you look very good) two rainbows...Love to see them ,they make me happy :) I was a bit late for this challenge so I had to keep it simple..Just a green 30x30 paper and some gesso.a pic some alpha's and smooch pearlized accent inkt to paint the squares on.

Misty:

I loved that image! I was most inspired by the flourished clouds and the streams of rainbows. Inspired also by pinterest, I made my own stamp from a Styrofoam plate to mimic the patterns in the pic.

My title, brick wall, and funky flowers are all courtesy of Scrapfx!

So this challenge just about killed my hand but I loved it so much!! Especially since I pretty much did most of this page at work! I also went through about 2 black pens but I really love the finished look. I wasn't really going for an 80s vibe but I am digging it. That's one of the things I love about mists the most. It creates the coolest effects and if you don't like how it looks you can add more colors until you do!

Celina:

So this picture, for me, inspired me to scrap a picture of my messy desk which was in complete and utter chaos for the start of the new year. The picture inspired me to use a rainbow of colors, splatters of black mist, clouds with wrting on them, stripes, and a random variety of transparency designs. I can say that I felt rather free creating this one.

I'm sure you will agree Nat gave us an amazing picture for inspiration. I took the grid and the colours from it and used a photo of my son pointing at the clouds from our loft window.

Cheryl:

This image put everything about the direction in which I'd like my style to go in one place - it was a match made in heaven! It's not tidy, but I love it! Also, it inspired me to publish a rant on inspiration...see my blog ;-)

Hey everyone! I'm Tam aka Stepfordwife as I'm known round most scrapping boards! I'm a 37 (omg when did I get so old!) mum to 3 amazing babes aged 13, 10 & 4. I'm also working with my hubby and about to start study again!I adore being a part of the Punky Scraps team, it's really pushing my scrapping outside of anywhere I use to scrap! Previously it was perfectly measured and cut paper, NO ink, paint, mess LOL.Some Random facts about me :-)1. I have quite a few tattoos and am planning on more2. I hate beans..they feel furry and stick in my throat LOL3. I cannot go to bed until I've been in to cover, check and kiss my babes in the same order every single night!4. I love reality trash tv shows..the trashier the better!!!5. My favourite food is Mexican6. My all time dream holiday would be to go to Ireland7. Here is what Team B created:

Amy I needed to find a good use for this really cool chair paper by October Afternoon, as well as this groovy Cocoa Daisy chair stamp. :) I remembered this photo of my daughter sitting on the ground, with the sun over her head. My sweet girl sometimes worries too much, and I wanted to reminder to always find the sun, even when life seems dark.

Mandy:

I am going soft and sweet again for this challenge!! For this layout I chose to use the pearls for something shiny, Stickles, masking behind the top cut work, I have a tiny bit of negative space. I did use the title Your Story to go along with the book idea, but not sure if that really counts :)!! The stitching around the edge was done by hand and the papers used were Prima. TFL!!

I found this quote on Pinterest and really like how it can be interpreted as upbeat optimism or uncompromising
snark. I'm pretty sure it's a quote from a book or historical figure. If you know where it's from leave a note on the comments box. ;) I used a sunburst template I made myself as the stamp from a certain kit club I shall not name sold out in about 3 seconds. Swing by my blog (after you're finished here please!) to get a quick "How To". The heart charms are Mexican "Milagros". I chose 2 to represent courage and creativity.

My take is messy me who used all the picks - some of them in different shapes. ;)

It's masks, stencils, bubble wrap (stamping), one shiny "diamond", shiny paint, shiny embossing, shiny metal, silver paint, silver star sequins (in a decided #), silver string (formed as two o), silver paper clip, tape with shiny silver stars, charms in silver, stickles, words cut from a book and some negative space.

The title says "Considering the cirumstances here, is her view of point rocknroll" - something that defines me and my new year 2012. This is in the same vein as WoWs new years resolution, which is always the same - "Gonna do what I like, gonna do what I want"...

This is a pretty personal page about me and how I feel about real life friendships. I was trying to show the hurt and anger I have inside of me. (More on my blog if interested.) I used 5 out of the 8 pickys. My shiny item(s) are the mirrors. I masked part of my broken up title. For charms, I used a lock & key, a TH tag and a black pendant. I have quite a bit of silver items and a couple gold safety pins. I put black Stickles on my arrow.

I used shiny yellow stain with my mask for the background, and then I stamped with red pearlmaker on bubblewrap. I covered the alphas in aluminum tape. The shiny little circles are mounted on small pieces of a bookpage, it's a bit hard to see though... I found a camera-charm and some other shiny stuff. I finished with stickles in green and yellow

Challenge 38 - Sketchy Sketch....

ooooooooh it's Friday the 13th!! Are you superstitious? I'm not so it's time for a sketch designed by Marie :)

Here is what Team B have designed with it:

The first thing my husband said when he saw this was that the title made no sense. I told him my titles are usually abstract riffs on the complex emotion I am trying to capture with my photos. You can get away with ALL KINDS of trash talk when you "make art". This page came together quickly after we visited the Keith Haring Mural next to the FDR Drive- these photos have been on my "to do" list for YEARS. Lately I've really been interested in arrows- been adding them to the most random places.

Mandy

I went for the softer side this time. This is a photo of my youngest daughter giving the peace sign. I decided to machine stitch around the edges and folded up the scalloped edges. The title and frame are Dusty Attic chippies which I lightly inked around the edges. The page itself was created using the Scraps of Darkness December kit. TFL!

Cheryl C:

I couldn't contain myself, and had to use lots of layers. But I wanted the circle from the sketch to be my main focus so I used it for the photo itself. The cog has molding paste on it for texture, misted and inked over. This is my son on the first day of preschool, bummed out that he had to go home.

I used only one photo and it's from last summer and our visit to "Kolmården" which is a large zoo. I tried to get a summery feeling in my layout, that's why I used the cloud-paper for background. A little bit of gesso and mist in different colors is always useful... I added two journalingpapers instead of patterned paper. I like to draw stitches on my layouts!

Amazing!! We only have 4 this week as it's a busy time for some punky rebels - but these three have certainly inspired me to scrap!!!

Challenge 37 - always coca cola ;)

The first Challenge of this year and I have picked this picture for your inspiration! It's quite apt considering it's very mild outside for this time of year!!

So how does this image inspire you? Is it grids? colours? Seasons? Vintage?

Whatever it is we would love to see!!!

As always here is some truly magnificent inspiration from our Team B rebels!

From the inspirational image, all I could see was that lovely winter scene. Maybe because I live in the hot desert and it is 80 degrees right now and we are in winter!?! Well I don't see snow often, so when we went to Disneyland a few weeks ago it "snowed" right there on Main Street. It was so magical! I caught Jasmine looking right at a "small snowflake" with such a genuine smile, I thought this looked like it came from a Coke commercial. I used some bottle caps to punk it up a bit for the Coca Cola theme. I painted clear molding paste on to the cardboard before misting, and it really gave a glossy, sheer. "Enjoy" is one of the many motto's the company has, so I used it as my title.

I decided to go with the colors of the photo rather than the theme of it. These four cuties are my kiddos. For the title work I simply used a rub on. The ribbon is very easy to crinkle like this. Just take a tape runner and go down the entire length of the ribbon and then apply and scrunch as you lay it down on the paper. TFL!!

I like the squares in the picture and decided to make lots of them... The colors turned out really christmassy, and the photo is from last summer, but I kind of like the combination!

When looking through some old photos, I came across this one of my youngest daughter and I, taken 10 years ago. It is one of my very favorites of all time, and I decided to make it a little better by scanning and editing. I was struck by how quickly things have changed, and how she's gone from a baby, to a 4th grader in what seems like the blink of an eye, so I titled it "Time Flies", I thought that fit the coca-cola theme well. The whole back of the layout is covered in journaling, as I had a lot to say, hehe. The clock is made from a Crafter's Workshop stencil, and the denim is from old jeans I had back around the time this picture was taken. I created the wing on grunge board, using a stencil, gesso, and glitter, and then fussy cut the whole thing.

Celebrate 2011! When I looked at the inspiration piece I though of a few things- circles, the color red, a grid format and Vintage Americana. I just chose the grid because I'm in the middle of organizing for Project 365 (where you take 1 photo a day) and I didn't want to mess everything up again looking for my vintage and red scrap things. Here I'm documenting the crazy day we had on New Year's Eve. We visited 3 places in order to be with our entire family. We ended the day at 11:20pm when Lola threw her first official tantrum with legs kicking the floor. Dave and I were too amazed to stop and take a photo. Many of the items I used came from Gauche Alchemy mixed media color packs.

Last year I was able to capture some amazing shots of my daughter staring endlessly at the Christmas tree. It was such a magical time for her. For this page I cut the squares out of the pic by hand and spread them out in a pixel design.

Talk about a non traditional Christmas layout lol. I went with some bright, wacky colors and funky embellies to punk this page out. Those Christmas lights came from a broken necklace. The smaller photos are parts of my Christmas tree and bows from opened presents. This crazy page represents just how wild our X-mas mornings are, but always filled with magic.

I've been waiting to scrap these pictures for a long time and when I saw the inspirations for this month, I knew it was the perfect time to. I used Thickers and sticker alphas for the title. The paper is from K and Company and I covered some parts with red glitter glue. I also misted the background with some red and green. The poinsettias are felt and I found them in the Christmas craft section of my local craft store.

My first ever Christmas layout - can you believe it? It's also our first Christmas as a married couple, our first real tree, and the first time we get to celebrate Christmas at home together - 'Our Own Little Christmas'. I used some s.e.i paper from last year's collections to reflect the stripes on the candy cane decoration in the photo, and decided to ~~go crazy with~~ use up some of my chipboard frames to reflect the squares on the sketch. Lots of bling, lots of white - just as Christmas should be, no?

Teeth- SURPRISE! I need not 1 but TWO root canals. I went to the dentist to get a filling replaced and was told there was decay underneath. The title reflects how I felt because I consider a cavity a failure. Yes I know this isn't exactly Christmasy. I figured- it's PUNKY Scraps right? I get she's totally crazy license. ;)

This is my sweet dd a week ago during our first snow. I used a crafters workshop template and modeling paste to get the snowflakes. Then to get some color and define the flakes a little more, I sprayed some Donna Salazar smooch sprays . The swirly piece I used to show a gust of wind is an awesome chippie from Scrapfx that I painted with some white and blue and shimmered with some glitter.. I also tried to make it look like my snow(wo)man had an icicle on the end of her nose, but it just looks like the poor gal has a snot problem!

A few random facts about me:

I can't create until I've tidied up - sometimes the whole house. But I refuse to employ a cleaner.
I like rock n roll - my singing, dancing, dressing and even my arting is inspired by the 1950s.
I desperately want blue hair, but instead it is red.
I have had a number of psychic experiences, but they've become less frequent as I've gotten older.
Listening to the blues makes me happy.
I have nine tattoos and counting.
I love reading, cartwheeling, baking, complete sets of things, cherries, and sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea, a book and my husband and his guitar.
I like waterfalls and rivers, romance (although I'm not romantic at all), blogs, dreaming (as in sleep dreaming), and lemonade.
I want to learn the harmonica, have green fingers, travel far and wide, have a bigger craft room, and get some chickens and maybe a goat too.
I dislike narrow-mindedness, politicians, exclusion, imbalance, gossip, bad drivers, karaoke, and monkeys.
Oh, and I HATE bananas.

Hi everybody - Kerry here - I'm loving being a Punky Rebel. I've been part of the design team from the beginning and am so grateful to our leader Nat for giving me a second term.

When I joined the team I had just come back into scrapping after an enforced break due to major building work in our home. It took me a while to find my feet and embrace the more messy style of being a Punky Rebel. I think you could probably describe my style back then as 'safe'. I love love love my more messier layouts now and it isn't very often I do one that doesn't include paint or mist somewhere.

This layout is one I sent for my application and is still one of my favourites. It is as messy as it got back then. Not a splodge of paint or spray of ink in sight.

this one is slightly messier because I used a painted border.

It was only when I did a lot of experimenting on this layout below that I embraced the messiness of paints and mists.

I've made tons of mistakes along the way and had to cover up some awful splodges with embellishments but I can't see me going back to 'safe' scrapping anytime soon.

These are my last two dt layouts.

I'm looking forward to the future with Punky Scraps. Nat has some fab challenges planned and you won't want to miss the special December one we have coming up.

I loved this challenge! Not using Patterned Paper is a huge challenge for me, and one that I found out pushed me out of my comfort zone! Once I got started though it all just kinda fell in to place!!

The 'no patterned' paper was a real challenge for me too. But I did it! I LOVE using stars, so I went to town with them... I even had a bottle cap with a star on it, but I lost it somewhere and my layout has had to end up without. First of all I spritzed a couple of star cut-outs for the masking, then got to stamping all my stars; then came all the star brads and stickers. The book page and the washi tape are at the top and bottom of the layout, and I love the exposed cardboard star that makes up the title. These recipe challenges are great!

This is my favorite challenge of the month! I managed everything on the list and then some...went a little crazy with the staples!!!

I really love the Get Picky Challenges because they always help me mix up so many elements that I normally wouldn't put together. Here I went for a dreamland feel and used everything on the list except for the washi tape (I used tissue tape instead) and bottlecaps. I used opaque white ink for the masking and added sparkles with some Stickles.

I had a fun time making this layout...and I've been dying to use that bottle cap...I've had it for almost 3 years now! These challenges are so much fun..and are definitely great stash busters!

I was actually able to use all the elements which was really difficult. The only thing you can't really see are the staples but they are there I swear!

A journey can be many things. I wanted to pay homage to life and living, to enjoying and experiencing the journey as we are on it, not just after it's finished. What better way than to use bright, bold colour splashes and happiness?

I adored this sketch and thought it was perfect to use this photo for it. This was day one of our family trip and we stopped in at The Chinese Gardens of Friendship, such a beautiful peaceful place to be. We could have spent all day there and we all a little sad about having to leave, we'll definately be returning there one day!

This is a page where I played with layers. I actually don't do many layers in my pages at all and I wanted to branch out. It didn't really turn out like I imagined and that is why I love mists and inks. Just add some when you don't like something. If it's still not right you can add more. Of course you can go overboard but that's why you should do it little by little ... like when you season food!

I flipped the sketch on its side and created a page with autumn colors and leaves. I used my Cricut Expression to cute out all the leaves and inked them up with coordinating Distress Inks. The flourished are handmade with acrylic and liquid pearls.

Misty

Instantly, the squares in the sketch reminded me of pressed tin. So, I decided to go crazy with metal! I used eyelets, wire, and did tons of embossing with gold and silver powder. The awesome wings and Cogs are chippies from ScrapFX...they were so much fun to alter and grunge up! TFL!!

The squares in the sketch really made me want to break into my giant tag stash...

Hello all and welcome to November on the Punky Scraps blog. For the first challenge of the month, we have two pieces of inspiration for you this week!

First of all, a quote which you can use in full or interpret in your own way:

Made this L/O only for myslef.This is a pic where I was 40 kilo less in weight than I am now.And I really need to loose all the extra weight.It have made me sad and feel bad...and all the time I was feeling bad I just eating it away...and I'm so done with that feeling....and done with all the food...that this is the message to myself "move the f*** on" and do something about it....Well I did...went to the doctor and I have been loosing weight..:)It's a long way to go,but I really think (and feel) it's gonna work!! This pic is a sort of reminder and hangs on my mirror....everytime I want to get something to eat I see it and it helps.

This quote really spoke to me in volumes, quite often I use to over analyse things wondering what could have should have been, but more recently have learnt that sometimes its quite healing and the only way to move forward it you just leave things where they fall and move the f&@k on!

Cheryl W:

I made this small framed postcard as a response to the quote above. I totally try to live by this philosophy! Life is about accepting things and moving on, not about dwelling on them or wondering what could have been. Although I tried to bring in the bright colours of the Times Square image, the project evolved to be mainly pink, red and blue. I don't have any regrets about it though ;-)

I created the background using mists, clear tar gel, and coarse pumice gel. I just added the elements randomly and moved the page around to get the streaks of mist. I edited the photo in PS using the mosaic texture and added the quote to it digitally.

Celina:

I created this page by putting four 6 X 6 pieces of Colorful Life paper together, brushing acrylic paints in purple, red, and aqua on it, stamping various textures on it, and adding some fragments stippled with alcohol inks to it. The picture has some pieces cut from it and there are staples on the paper joints. I added some star sequins and chipboard alphas.

The quote really struck a chord with me after a particularly bad few days with my 7 year old son. He has aspergers syndrome and his thought process is very different which often results in frustration and temper flare ups. Drawing a line under a bad day can be difficult sometimes but I shall remember this quote in future and definitely try and MOVE ON. Tomorrow is a whole new day!

I used a Collage Press shaped piece and splashed red paint on. The photo is matted onto a torn piece of black magic coredinations. The rest are just a few journalling bits/embellishments from my stash inked around the edges with distress ink.

This is a friend of my niece going through some rough changes right now, the quote inspired me to make something uplifting for her! The frame and title letters are from Scrapfx. I used a transparency behind the frame and put crackle accents to get a shattered glass look but its kind of hard to see in the photo. TFL!!!

Some halloween for you?

it's a BONUS challenge with an extra BONUS prize (but more on that later...i have to actually show you what to do first)!!

If you are here in the UK then the clocks have gone back an hour - great if you need the extra sleep - but not great if you are nursing a hangover and can't get back to sleep. Last night I attended a winter BBQ with glowing pumpkins, orange cupcakes, pumpkin marshmallows and a pumpkin pie (which was yummy!!) and it has made me all halloweeny so I decided to have a bonus challenge on HALLOWEEN o_O

Hello, all! My name is Celina Matthews aka Forevervampress. I have been a Punky Rebel for a few months and I knew this was a fun team to belong to from the beginning. Everyone's styles and creativity are different but amazing. The challenges here are always fun and exciting. A little about myself: I am a SAHM and military spouse. I am 34 years old and a mother of three; 2 daughters and a son. I am also a student working on my master's degree in business. But out of everything I must do from house and home to studying, scrapping is my passion and the only way I know how to relax. I've been scrapping for about 2 years and have found it has saved my sanity on a few occasions. Lol. My scrapping style is eclectic; I can scrap frilly, girlie pages one day and gothic, dark pages another. I prefer the darker side of scrapping and find styles like steampunk and distressed a lot of fun to work with. Here are a few of my favorite pages I have created in the past.

Hi All!!! My name is Mandy Harrell aka CraftySprinkles and I have been a Punky Rebel since June of this year!! I love love love this team and all the fun and funky challenges that they do!! I figured I would show you some of my favorite pages from past to present and then I will tell you a little about myself after that :)

It's always hard doing a write up on myself, but I will just go with it and see what happens..... :)

So I am a SAHM of 5 kids and an awesome, hard working, hubby!! Next to paper art, I love photography and hope to own my own studio one day!! My kids are all awesome subjects to work with and are willing to dress up in costumes for me at the drop of a hat!! Here are a few more facts about me:

- I recently stopped biting my nails after 34 years.
- I like to cut my split ends one by one when I get super bored.
- I love the TV show American Horror Story.
- I am a true blonde, but it's a dark blonde, so I highlight it.
- My scrap room is what I like to call organized chaos.

I am pretty sure I got all of the choices (in some funky way) on this layout; except the photo of *my* eyes. I decided to use a photo of my daughter, that showcased her beautiful blues. I used a Balzer Designs stencil that I cut up, around the frame of the photo, and the title. The tag was embellished with a Jenni Bowlin stencil, and 3 different mist colors. :)

I managed to use all nine choices on this page. To create the trimmed edge, I used the EK Success Paper Shapers Doily Petals punch and instead of making the strips into flowers, I stuck them behind my page and bent them forward. I believe eyes are the windows to the soul!

I had a lot of fun creating this mystical, punky page. I really liked how the layering turned out with those Pink Paislee Phantom clear frames over my eye. The black mist and doodles didn't show up very well, but I attempted all 9 "pickys". Jounaling: Haunted by my own dreams.

A layout with all nine or all ten picks (both hessian and mesh). It's messy layers with many different colors and media. It's a lot of hilarouis fun. It's about that future vision I see - a steamy punk vision. ;)

I love the "get picky" challenge! All 9 are applied, that´s the fun with this, to try use them all:) I´ve played with gesso, modeling paste, black mist and akrylic paint.

The eye photo was shot off my computer screen using my iPod and the Instagr.am app. I added contrast and blurred the edges a bit using photoshop. I really wanted to stick with my current "fall color" trend. The woodgrain punchinella & handwoven lace are from Gauche Alchemy, chipboard gears from Dusty Attic. metal letters from Making Memories. I used watered down acrylic paint and a mascara brush for the mist effect.

Trick or Treat...its a trick! Not a layout but an altered dish soap bottle turned into a kitchen witch. The challenge picks used black mist, steam punk (ear ring), mesh (net cape), doodled (with Stickles on the stamped collar), metal (tea strainer head & metal hat ornament), lace (webbed front of dress and more lace on the bottom. Happy Haunting!

I used Die Cut With a View and Kaisercraft papers for this. The tree and barb wire is a chippie from Dusty Attic. The photo is of my youngest daughter. Last year I dressed her up like the Alice from the Graphic 45 papers and went out and a had little shoot with her.

Amy Lynne:

This sketch rocked! I layered on the liquitex black paint thick in the corners of this layout, and created the frame in the middle on brown canvas fabric, and layers of distress paint/ ink on a leaf stencil by Balzer Designs/The Crafter's Workshop. I adore the funky bird with glasses stamp by Graphic 45, that's on the tag on the right. The photos are from a fun photo shoot my teenaged daughter and I did this summer....on a "spooky" theme. :)

I pulled out some not so normal Halloween papers from my stash and mixed them with traditional ones. I really like the added funkiness it produced to make this page stand out. The spider was a plastic ring, I cut apart, and placed on top of a piece of dryer sheet that I used as webbing. My mists weren't showing up enough on this patterned paper, so I used black gesso to blob here and there, with some added Stickles.

Kim

i got Punky with gesso, molding paste, paint, and plenty of inks for this one. Molding paste adds such texture. I used punchinella as a stencil and applied a thin layer with a credit card.

Michelle

I used Crate papers, Crafter's Workshop honeycomb template and Gauche Alchemy mixed media kits in brown and purple. I LOVE taking photos of my shadow! I'm usually the one behind the lens in family photos so this is a way for me to get in. Purple is trending right now. I didn't set out to use it but I kept finding it in my stash so I just kept adding- it looks great with beige.

I had some leftovers and add-ons from my tartan layout and it just went this way with this layout. ;) Strange thing that I pretty much followed the sketch without reinventing every detail. Even that black spider is there... you know the story?

Another Punky Feature.....Natalie Jane!!

Hello!!! It's another Punky Feature!!

Let me introduce myself......I am Nat and i first set up this blog in October 2010 with the first challenges starting in December. So we are nearly 1 year old!! I started scrapbooking in 2009 and began experimenting with inks, paints and sprays from the start....anyone would think i like to get messy!

Well, let me tell you why i set this place up..... i like to do things a bit different....i believe there is no right or wrong in scrapbooking - just what you like to do!! It's a hobby after all and you are supposed to enjoy it...not try to emulate others.
It might surprise you, that i do not like art, in fact i disliked it that much, i stopped taking it at school. My love for colour, paint, metal & texture comes from my love for Chemistry.
As for my inspiration: it comes from everywhere...and since blogger is free i thought i'd share it with the help of some incredibly talented and like minded ladies :)

You get a mix of challenges to inspire you to create from sketches, to photos, to random products & techniques. Anything goes here - we just want you to create and share!! :)

Uhhm- DUUUH! YES!!!!
Here's the page:

And let me tell you a little about myself right now:

I love art. I love abstract art most of all, it allows me to think.
I don't like pets much, they should be left alone to live fun furry lives in their natural environs.
I like plants. I like visiting botanical gardens and make sure to include them in every trip.
I like creating things although I wish I could sew my own clothes.
To quote Jerry Maguire- "You think we're ARGUING and I think were finally COMMUNICATING."
I have a baby girl I call Miss Lola whom I photograph incessantly and a husband (The Hubmeister Flex) who rolls his eyes when I talk about "my work". That's ok as long as he doesn't try to stop me.
I find scrapping holidays, birthdays ,weddings or anything requiring lots of themed bits and bobs stressful and angst ridden. I'm an everyday details kinda gal.
I believe in the power of redemption and of hope.
I am a messy scrapper because I don't want to spend time measuring and matching and considering. I just want to have fun.
I have a serious reality TV show paper hoarding habit but I can still see the counter tops and floors (so it's "not that bad".)

Wow!! Where has this year gone......welcome to our September challenges with Team A and guests! This challenge is my favourite!! As most of you know, I am Scottish, so really, i had to get a challenge of some sort with tartan in it!! This is the closest i could get to Macdonald Tartan too!!

Hope you have enjoyed the challenges this month - look out for a winner in the next few days!!

Today I am going Spotlight the lovely Camilla who is resigning as a designer from Punky Scraps.  But never fear, she is staying to design some superbly punky sketches for you all to enjoy!!

Hello everybody, Jolanda here from the Netherlands....I live here for all my life,even in the same small town.

I'm  married for almost 8 years now and I have 2 kids.Don,he's 7 and Jade  she's 3.They make me crazy...like I wasn't that already :) To  introduce...this is me...

I  love Photo's and I love being creative,I used to work as a florist even  had my own store in Rotterdam,a big country in the Netherlands.And I  Love colors.

The  time I didn't scrap I painted the house almost every month an other  color.(it was red,orange,blue,green,grey...name it and I had it)Now it's  metallic purple and white....)

My husband is glad I "found" scrapbooking,he was always wondereing if he was in the good house :)

I love papers and have tons of it....and embellies,can you ever have enough stuff ? I don't think so :)

I met Nat on the DT over at Scrapbook Challenges and  I love her style.She made me work with mist and paint and I love it!I  really don't think I have a special style...I love fuzzy cutting and  masking...but I can't give my style a name :)
