Dear readers, it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the end of Punky scraps for the foreseeable future.

I set up this blog back in 2010 before mixed media etc became the trend because I loved being different and using inks and paints and when I had time. Since my car crash back in 2011 I have struggled with a lot of things personally - Mostly going back to work full time with my injuries and head mental issues. Now my son is growing older I need to be there for him; to help with school work and ferry him around to his various clubs and activities.

I can't devote the time I want to for this blog and it makes me feel guilty that I can't provide amazing prizes as I don't have the time to hunt down sponsors. It also makes me feel guilty that the mail round here is so awful they lose most parcels I send out (and stuff I get at home - I've been fined and threatened with court action as they lost important docs relating to cars etc).  I also feel like I've let you all down and the DT by not being around as often as I should be.

With special thanks to everyone who has participated, the DT especially Lee and Lesley for keeping this blog afloat for the past year, sponsors we've had and everyone. Looking through and deleting the next few months challenges inspires me and I really wish I could keep it running.......we might be back in a couple years when I hope to be on maternity leave....so until then I will leave you with this challenge:

Beautiful patterns, colours, and shapes!
Use this image to help you complete the recipe challenge!

You must use:

Paint
Love hearts
3 patterened papers
Journaling

We can't wait to see what you create!

Elisabetta Colavero
I immediately fell in love with the bright colors of this picture!
I followed the recipe: 3 patterned papers, one of which is used front and back, painting sprayed and with a mask, hearts and handwritten journaling.

Helene Bogren

I used yellow and green paint, two sticker hearts and tree patterned papers. My journaling is on the patterned paper in the lower right corner next to the photo.
Simply gorgeous. You see why I don't want to let go??

There is one last prize I have for this challenge ( not pictured yet) it's a surprise kit.

Please link up your entry in the comments!!

Love Nat and the team xx

Ps. If you are due a prize please could you contact me directly at njmacs AT gmail DOT com

#76 - June!

Welcome to June! Where has the time gone :) hope you'll dig out your favourite lyric and combine it with this scrumptious mood board!

Here is some Punky inspiration from the amazing ladies in the team!

Helene Bogren

Wow! I love this color combination! And I just had to add some bling too. The photo shows our 5-year old daughter on a professional dance show.

I used the palette (more or less), the idea of flames or jet of colors, the glitter and the words surrounded and overlapped.

I used the title of an unreleased Lana Del Ray song.  My daughter is currently her fan, so I made this for her.  I had to put the happy button upside down, because Lana Del Ray does not sing happy music.

I went for the minimalist approach and unfortunately the colours don't really show in the photograph.
I love the cute photo of my Cheeky Girl (We are the cheeky girls...keep singing!)

I used the different colours in the mood board for my layout. The beautiful song by Charlie Rich was a perfect title for the most beautiful girl in the world - my daughter :)

As always link up by the 12th of July (inlinkz won't let me exted the date any further) for a chance to WIN a SPOT on the PUNKY REBEL TEAM!!!

Can't wait to see what you create!! :-)

May!

Welcome to May readers!

This month we are going to inspire you with two of our favourite colours: Purple and Green!

You can follow this sketch that uses circles from the mood board:

LesleyG found a quote on Pinterest which inspired her layout..
you can see the quote on her blog

I used the sketch and the wonderful colors. I was inspired from the water drops and from the wheels of the car to prepare the background.

I used watercolor to create a background inspired by the sketch. I also doodled circles to frame one sticker, one flair and one heart.

           Lee created this piece:

And finally Nat www.njmacs.blogspot.com created this:

Decided to steer away from the photo and papers and use only inks, stencils, and pens. Ore on my blog.

We do hope you join us for a small prize from me (Nat) :)  and I hope you are inspired by what the team has created.

# 74 - April

It's spring! It's fresh, bright and my favourite time of year!  Here is a spring inspired moodboard for you.

Use this to create. What part of this inspires you? Is it the colours? The Stripes? The balloons or shapes? The childrens books?

Show us what you create using this picture!

I was inspired by the colors and the playfulness in the picture. To get as intense colors as in the picture I used acrylic paint.

I was inspired by the colors: yellow, blue, light blue and red, with stripes, balloons, bubbles and the writing crazy.

Yellow isn't my favorite color, but this spring I have enjoyed watching my neighbors' daffodils bloom. I would have to say that I was attracted to the yellow in the nature pictures on the mood board and the beauty around me.

I took my inspiration from the colours and playfulness of the picture and chose a photo of my youngest son on the Spin Dizzy ride at Diggerland.

# 73 - March

It's my birthday month so let's have some beer and a lovely light colour scheme!

This month your challenge is to create a project around the theme "birthday".

Use the image above for inspiration
and your challenge is to use a Kraft background.

Elisabetta
I love this palette! It's so cheerfull! I used the kraft backgroud and a photo of my daughter birthday.
And the litte green banners... adorable!

Maria Krafft
I also love the colour scheme - reminds me that spring is soon here!
The picture is taken when we celebrated my birthday in Spain this January.

Kerry:

I chose a photo of my eldest son having his first legal drink on his 18th birthday.

LesleyG was inspired by the beautiful spring colours and all though you can't see
much of her Kraft background, it is there!!

#72 February

Due to a slight technical hitch, half term and blogger gremlins the February post is a little late!!!
But better late than never :) and the team have done a FANTASTIC JOB with this mood board!!

Here is the mood board for February
You should also include three of these: staples, masks, misting, feathers, flair.

Helene Bogren
I used a mask (with red acrylic paint), pink mist and a flair. I also used grey watercolour on the background

Sara Pettersson

I used purple (though it's looking black) mist, a homemade minatureflair and black staples.

I have been inspired by the writing on the wall and colors. I used a feather, misting and staples.

Kerry:

 Maria Krafft
I was inspired by everything on the mood board! The colours, the glitter and the feeling. I used feathers, flair, and mists.

Lee
This mood board rocked!  I loved the colors and the rockabilly type images.  However, it was the skulls that spoke to me.  I took this picture the first day I was able to leave my house after having the flu.  The sweet victory of recovery. I used chipboard feathers, masks and misting.

Link up by march the 15th to win a small prize (winners pay a contribution towards postage - only because I'm not a business and can't afford the postage each month it's not something I want to do :( )

Can't await to see what you create!

WINNERS OF PREVIOUS CHALLENGES TO BE ANNOUNCED IN A BUMPER POST ON TUESDAY EVENING!!!

#71 - January

NEON! Happy 2014 to you all and here is your first challenge of the year! And what a fantastic sponsor we have!!! We welcome Gauche Alchemy and their team to Punky Scraps!

If you have never heard of Gauche Alchemy, please swing by their store and then why not check out their amazingly inspiring blog.
The ephemera kits and their monthly kits are to die for!! I have been wanting to sign up for a while now but being in the UK I thought it would be too expensive.....fear not as shipping is very reasonable!!!!! :D

Now, onto the challenge - create a project using neon! Will you use neon tape or paint? a neon photo? Will you go white space or grid design?
However you interpret these images use neon and show us what you have created!

Here are what the Gauche Team were inspired to create:

This superb journal page is made by Pam Palmarini

This pretty page is by Heather Pearson

This gorgeous piece is by Lara Wineman

These cute cards are made by Linda Brun

This beautiful art journal page is by the lovely Peg Hewitt

And now some inspiration from the Punky Team:
I was inspired by the bright colors and I used highlighters to prepare the background and to color the  papers.

Helene
I used three different neon acrylic paint - yellow, orange and red. They are really bright IRL, but it does not show in the photo...

Maria
I really love these bright neon colours. I ended up using mostly green and yellow and I really liked the contrast with the black and white photo.

Lesley
Lesley chose "white space" with a hint of bright pink here and there

Sara
For me neon is the eighties... But I kind of like it! Had a hard time finding anything to use though. But one can always use mist and washi! And a cool paper with neon details completed the layout.

Kerry:
Last summer was a bit of a nightmare for my youngest son as he spent 12 weeks either in pot or a knee brace.  I've wanted to scrap this photo for ages but didn't want to dwell on the sombre part of the injury so neon seemed the perfect outlet for it.

Now, here is the generous prize that Guache Alchemy are giving away to one lucky winner:
The prize their Punchinella Variety Pack, Ephemera Variety Pack AND a Mixed Media Color Kit OF YOUR OWN CHOICE!! How awesome is that?

You have until 20th February 2014 to link up with your creations! We can't wait to see what you create :)
